ABOUT ME
I am a professional psychotherapist and psychotherapy educator, working with adults in individual, one-to-one psychotherapy and psychotherapy for couples. I am a Qualifying Member of the OSP (Ontario Society of Psychotherapists), and will hold membership with the soon-to-be-established College of Psychotherapists and Registered Mental Health Therapists of Ontario.
My training as a relational psychotherapist has been with TIRP (Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy). Prior to this, I trained in the United Kingdom and received a Certificate in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regent’s College, London and a Postgraduate Certificate in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling from the NSPC (New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling), London.
My practical work has evolved over more than 15 years, encompassing relational psychotherapy private practice and counselling for crisis management, bereavement, sexual health, children/youth and the LGBT/queer community.
Since September 2006, I have been an interning faculty member at TIRP (Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy), teaching theory and practice skills to relational psychotherapists-in-training.
ABOUT MY PRACTICE
I welcome a diverse range of clients into my psychotherapy practice and facilitate a committed process of ongoing self exploration, examination and questioning for my clients. I am experienced in working with many different client issues such as:
- Relationship/partnership difficulties
- Childhood and family issues
- Sexual identity and sexual practice (LGBTQ-positive; polyamoury/non-monogamy issues)
- Major life transitions/displacements
- Loss and bereavement
- Addictions and eating disorders
- Depression and melancholia
- Anxiety and post-traumatic stress
- Anger issues
- Career stress
- Health-related issues
- Men's issues and emotional health
I assist my clients in taking a deeper look at their state of being in the world and their experiences of being in relationship with others. Relationships are fascinating to me in their complexity, fragility and resilience and I feel very committed to helping others feel their way through these experiences.
I help my clients to affirm for themselves what it is they really want from life and how they feel comfortable achieving that. I provide a space for them to express and be understood in how they are feeling about where they are in their lives. Being a relational psychotherapist, I actively engage in the therapy, building a relationship in which we are both invested.
